Canal Locks at Kembs-Niffer is one of the site that is to be preserved for visitation includes structures by Le Corbusier.  The original ecluse located (47 degrees 42' 14" N and 7 degrees 30' 18"E) are still in use today. New locks have been constructed to the north due to larger barges being used today. The canal located on the eastern boundary of France runs along side the Rhine River which connects Basel to the North Sea(see Le Corbusier Archive Vol. 30, p. 184-?)
The control tower and the administrative building which are already existing on the site built by Le Corbusier , were listed as a historic monument by decree of March 11, 2005. A visitor center is designed for the west side of the canal opposite side of the existing buildings.
